A December to remember

Please don’t give or send us anything until after we actually adopt. Just hope with us that this all goes as smoothly as possible for the birthparents, for the baby, and for us.

No, we don’t want a Lexus. But we are hoping this will be a December to remember for non-automotive reasons.

We’re receiving more inquiries about a registry, so we’ve started one on Amazon. You can go to Amazon, click on “Gifts and Wish Lists” at the top, and then there’s a search bar on the right side where you can select “Baby,” put in our names and find our registry.

We are not hoping for registry items more than other items; the registry is just supposed to make things easier. We love all sorts of hands: handmade, hand-me-down, and lending a hand. If you want to send us a gift card, we expect to do a lot of shopping at Amazon, Costco, Target, and Babies R Us. There are wonderful local toy shops such as Henry Bear’s Park and Stellabella, and a great local bookstore at Porter Square Books. We would be delighted with books or toys aimed at older ages, particularly if accompanied by a note saying why you really like the book or toy.

We have not wanted many gifts before the baby is born and the adoption papers are signed, and we won’t be home for a while after that. But we’re posting this note now because we may be too frazzled and sleep-deprived to post it at the perfect time, if there is such a time.

What we want most is your company, your support, and your good thoughts for us and for this child. A child is coming, and our job will be to help him find his way in the world. We want your help with that more than with the shopping. But we know that shopping can be fun too.
