After his most recent haircut, David decided to help sweep the barber shop floor. The shop owner tipped him $2 for his work, and said that he was welcome back every day.It can be hard to understand that the bank doesn’t keep track of your two individual dollar bills, and that if you deposit them in the bank, you will get two different individual dollar bills when you withdraw them later. That turns out to be true no matter what size the bank is: anything from Citibank all the way down to the local neighborhood bank of Mama and Papa.
David had no trouble deciding what he wanted to do with his $2. A couple of days later he perused the selection of Hot Wheels cars at the supermarket, chose two for a dollar each, and proudly told the cashier how he had earned his $2. One has an orange hood that lifts up, and the other is green and black with a checkerboard pattern and the word “Bishop” on its sides.
