Destination: Imagination

As of today, David has a library card of his own.

He has been an enthusiastic library patron for years, of course. Books galore to look through and borrow, singalongs and friendly librarians, what’s not to love? He’s been to lots of libraries around here and when traveling, many of them fancier and better stocked than ours, but now he has his own library card from his own hometown library.

There is no junior status to his library card. He does not need us to be present to use his library card. He has the same borrowing privileges that we do at our library and others in the network, though I would hope the libraries that loan out power tools might think twice.

His card has one advantage over ours: the library will replace his for just $1.00 if it gets lost, rather than the $2.00 that we occasionally have to pay to replace ours. His card has one drawback over ours: the connected library app cannot handle multiple library cards, so until he has his own cell phone he will not be able to easily look up which books are due when and renew them using the phone.

He already has passports from two countries, but the library card will allow him to travel much farther. May it serve him well.
