First day of pre-K

David started pre-K at a new school today. We had arranged individual playdates with five of the other kids in his class over the past few weeks, in the hopes that would make the transition to a new school easier because the classroom would not be entirely strangers. When the director came into his classroom today, one of those kids said to her “This is our friend David!”

When the class let out, David went to play with the other kids on the structure in the activity area while we chatted with one of the other parents we had met before. While our attention was elsewhere, he found a book and sprawled on the floor to look through it on his own. Then he brought me The Lorax to read to him. We were the last family out of the building. It’s a good start to the year.
