David had an excellent 4-month check-up today. He is 15 and a half pounds, at 64th percentile for height and weight. He demonstrated excellent neck control and a 6-month fine motor skill for the doctor, and cracked the doctor up with his laugh.
Time passes so quickly. David was just born in December, and now he’s a week away from being double his birth weight. For a few weeks, David has been able to take the soothie out of his mouth with his fingers and has been frequently grasping for the bottle while he eats. Yesterday, he got the soothie back into his mouth. Today, he grabbed the bottle and held it all by himself while he ate two ounces.
David is still a baby, but he is definitely no longer a newborn.
And yes, David, we will still need you, and we will still feed you, whether we hold the bottle or you do, and whether you take to solid foods quickly or slowly. The milestones may keep going by in a blur, but we are right here with you.
